Its been a while..
I havent posted to this blog in a while, which I apologize for! I have remained pretty healthy despite my being forced to use CuraScripts in the end. My COBRA coverage ended and I since I had no break in coverage I was able to find an OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive policy that TN provides for those of us who are uninsurable. At least its better than not having insurance coverage.
Knowing I was losing coverage, each time I could renew my 90 day scripts I filled those babies, so I have plenty of medication except for one. I’m not sure why I failed to refill this one – Gabitril – but I did, and 30 days is quite costly ($100 for 60 tablets/30 day supply). So I will be looking into an alternative medication, though it has helped to prevent my migraines for years. I dread the switch, but my premiums are around $780/month, so every little bit helps.
I am working with my new insurance policy to find an infusion company, as AGAIN, they will not let me use BioRx. It has to do with being on AccessTN, and that 4 companies have agreed to drop their prices for this insurance. If I go with BioRx, my MD will have to pay the difference. It makes NO sense to me, but I have not had a shipment of Gamunex since early March, and its time to do SOMETHING. Again, thankfully, I saved some by infusing 5 grams a week vs. 10 grams, so I will be ok I hope until the insurance gives me the names of those who are approved.
I just don’t understand insurance. BioRX is listed as an approved provider for BCBS of TN for all other subscribers except those on AccessTN who are uninsurable.
I guess I should shut up and be happy they are willing to provide the medication, and give me a case worker, but there is NO service like BioRX. BCBS agreed if I was unhappy with any of the other companies they would re-look at the BioRX option, but only after trying the other companies out for a *decent amount of time* – which they defined as at least 3-4 shipments a piece.
As I mentioned earlier I havent been posting anywhere other than Facebook really. My Son, ALC has had some difficulties which I have had to devote all of my spare time and energy to lately. I am proud to say, he is doing really well, and I couldn’t be more proud!
Until next time!
Ash
